Exploring West Sichuan

West Sichuan encompasses the rugged eastern escarpment of the Tibetan plateau, historically known as Kham. Here, the landscape transitions rapidly from deep, forested gorges to glaciated peaks, dominated by Mt. Gongga (Minya Konka) at 7,556 meters and the multi-peaked Mt. Siguniang. Unlike the TAR, West Sichuan requires no special permits for international travelers, making it a highly accessible region to experience Kham Tibetan culture, nomadic pastures, ancient watchtowers, and pristine alpine wilderness.
